Algorithm Scientist
Proteus Biomedical, Inc. is seeking an Algorithm Scientist for our Redwood City, CA facility. This is an individual contributor responsible for the design and development of algorithms in support of the company’s development efforts. Ability to thoughtfully benchmark algorithm performance and design validation experiments. Demonstrate ability to manage projects and outside resources is important. Compliance with company and regulatory guidelines is a critical job requirement.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop high-level signal processing algorithms required by Proteus’ devices to convert low-level signals into easy to understand performance metrics
  • Work with Proteus’ software engineers in implementing algorithms
  • Collaborate with Proteus’ hardware designers providing a signal processing perspective to systems designs
  • Design experiments
  • Analyze data collected during in-vitro and in-vivo testing
  • Create product development plans and product specifications to guide the development efforts
  • Work with multi-variate physiological data (ECG, accelerometry, etc)
  • Evaluate and analyze product performance to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational guidelines
  • Create product development documentation to support regulatory filings including: Technical Files for CE and FDA (510(k), IDE, PMA) applications


  • Required skills:
  • Senior-level engineer with medical device development experience. Graduate work may substitute for work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to solve challenging problems and work with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Extensive experience in mathematical modeling, statistics and data analysis using Matlab
  • Previous experience developing signal processing algorithms for biomedical, physiologic monitoring applications is highly desired. (time-series analysis, linear modeling, statistics, feature extraction)
  • Software engineering experience using C/C++, LabView, or PL\SQL is desirable but not required


  • Education:
  • Minimum MS, preferable PHD in engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, mathematics or physical science
