Senior Software QA Enginner
Proteus Biomedical, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software QA Engineer for our Redwood City, CA facility. This role will be responsible for creation and implementation of software QA processes throughout all phases of software development lifecycle, from the requirements phase to the design phase to the validation phase. The Sr. Software QA Engineer will work as an integral member of a cross functional team to ensure that software meets high quality expectation for the company’s medical device products.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with software architects, designers, and developers throughout the software development life cycle in an agile and fast paced development environment to develop software/firmware test strategy and plan
  • Define and implement QA best practices to ensure software is developed with quality-built-in as a means of error/bug “prevention”
  • Responsible for creating/maintaining software test plan as a means of error/bug “detection”; perform all types of testing including black box testing, white box testing, integration testing, functional testing, regression testing, stress testing, end-to-end testing, recovery testing
  • Responsible for verification activities, including review and evaluation of documents, design, code, requirements, and specifications. Actively participates in process improvements
  • Responsible for validation activities and documents
  • Create/maintain complete audit trail to keep us in compliance with regulatory and organizational guidelines
  • Design and develop test automation tools, both third party and those developed in-house; communication with test instrumentation hardware such as programmable power supplies, digital and analog IO boards, oscilloscopes, etc., using protocols such as serial, GPIB, high speed digital and analog IO


  • Required skills:
  • Solid understanding of QA Guidelines and compliance documentation required by FDA for medical devices
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle
  • Knowledge of C/C++ and other programming languages
  • Experience with a bug/issue tracking tool
  • Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal skills with a self-starting attitude, team-player, and flexibility to support various department needs
  • Ability to work on assigned tasks, as well as independently identify other value-added activities
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and able to prioritize personal workload
  • Fast learner and high degree of creativity and initiative is expected
  • 5+ years of software QA experience


  • Desired skills:
  • Experience with a version control system
  • Previous experience in a start-up environment


  • Education:
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related area of study
